Program Coordinator – Yukon Status of Women Council

YSWC (Yukon Status of Women Council) is a non-profit, collective-model, feminist organization
which has been in continuous operation for forty years. It is the only Yukon organization which
has the mandate to advocate for women’s issues on a systemic level with all levels of
government; to conduct research and follow-up the results with action and advocacy; and to
provide a voice for Yukon women.

Our organization currently has a full-time Program Coordinator opportunity available. This
position plans, coordinates, and implements the administrative and operational activities of the
Yukon Status of Women Council. This position is an opportunity for an individual who is
passionate about feminism and striving for women’s equality, and who seeks to improve the
lives of women.

The Program Coordinator of YSWC is an influential position in the Yukon and steers the
direction of the YSWC by determining research and advocacy areas, programs, and builds
strategic alliances. The individual in this position is able to bring women’s issues forward and
ensures that organizations, governments and other stakeholders are held accountable for
including women’s perspectives.
Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Relevant experience working, volunteering or being a board member for a non-profit organization
  • Knowledge of women’s issues, particularly in the North
  • Experience conducting extensive research, gathering and analysing data and writing reports

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of non-profit organizational structure and collective model
  • Experience with funding application and grant proposal writing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse community
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students
  • Familiarity with communication principles, public speaking, media releases, use of social media and other communication mediums
  • Ability to identify and develop projects that address the issues and concerns of Yukon women and translates into action for change 
  • Administrative skills

Other position requirements:

  • A woman or woman identified individual who believes strongly in feminist principles and supports the movement for social, political, and economic equality of men and women
  • Must be comfortable working with vulnerable populations
  • Flexible schedule
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel

Salary: $35.00 - $40.00/hour, dependent on experience and funding
